The Rancilio espresso machine brand does also manufacture various coffee grinders, the coffee grinder on this page is one from the MD series. This is the Rancilio MD80 coffee grinder, the biggest model of the MD series. This type of coffee grinder is called a doser grinder, with this types of coffee grinders there is a coffee doser installed on the front of the grinder where a limited amount of ground coffee is located.

On the top of the grinder you have the square coffee hopper, with the MD series these are made from a blueish transparent colour. From there the coffee beans to towards the grinding burrs. These burrs are of the flat type and have a outer diameter of 75mm and a inner diameter of 43mm. the lower burr holder pushes the ground coffee towards the doser on the front of the coffee grinder.

This doser has a transparent visor, also with the same blueish colour. From there the coffee can be dispensed in the portafilter. This is done by pulling the doser lever on the side of the doser. The coffee grinder will start grinding automatically when there has been a certain amount of coffee dispensed.

This coffee grinder, the MD80, is available in various versions. There is a single phase 110 and 230V and a 3 phase 400V version. The single phase model does require a start capacitor to start the coffee grinder, this is not required with a 3 phase motor.
