The water inlet valve on a La Cimbali M23 UP espresso machine is a solenoid operated valve, without any manual overdrive. In the past with older La Cimbali models, such as the M39, you would be able to push a lever to let water into the boiler.
The water inlet valve is fed true the espresso machine pump. Then you have 3 outlets. One goes to the solenoid valves/brewing groups, the other one to the pump pressure gauge and the other one towards the boiler. The one towards the boiler is controlled with the 2 way solenoid valve.
Next to these outlets is there also a over pressure valve(OPV) inside this assembly. This OPV opens once the pressure is too high and drains the water towards the drain tub.
