La Cimbali - Portafilter

The portafilters used on the La Cimbali brewing groups always have a unique la Cimbali portafilter handle. These handles changes over time, but remain unique.

The portafilters used on La Cimbali espresso machines are 1 coffee and 2 coffee versions. The ear orientation is 90 degree and the thickness of these ears is 5.5mm

The older style of portafilters have a pressed piece of sheet metal which is the spout, with the modern ones it is a screw on version.

The La Cimbali M27-RE, Cimbali M27-DT, Cimbali M27-C and the Cimbali M23-Up don’t have the “standard” la Cimbali brewing group. So the portafilters which state La Cimbali portafilter won’t fit. This is not the case with the Cimbali M27, this is the oldest version which uses the Cimbali group.

Note: it is advised to also replace your portafilter gasket when you replace your portafilter. Seen the ears haven’t worn down it is possible that the portafilter won’t fully close due to the thicker gasket.
