La San Marco - Portafilter

The portafilters used on La San Marco espresso machines have a unique design and can’t be compared with a lot of other brands. The San Marco portafilters have 2 key features. One is the straight black portafilter handle(nowadays there is also a modern version of this available) and the other one is the portafilter body with the 3 ears. These 3 ears are not the most common design for portafilters.

The portafilter body is normally made from chrome plated casted brass, which has been polished into a mirror finish. The ears, 3 in total, have a thickness of 7,4mm. These portafilters can be used on all the brewing groups of La San Marco.

Standard espresso machines come with a single and a double portafilter, but of the La San Marco portafilter is also a bottomless version available.

The filterbaskets you can use on these La San Marco portafilters have a diameter of 66mm, this is also the case with the blind filter. Bigger baskets won’t fit this portafilter.
