A welding end cap nut is used to put pressure on the welding cap so it seals against the conical surface of it. Once there is not enough pressure from the back from the welding cap nut, the seal won’t work.

Welding cap nuts can be interchangeable for various sizes of welding end caps.

This is the biggest size of welding end cap nut. This fitting has a ½” BSP-G thread. The hole diameter of this fitting is 14mm. you can use 2 diameter of copper tubing, the copper tubing with a OD of 12mm and 10mm. So also 2 types of welding end caps.
