On this page you will find a brass steam pipe bushing. But what is a pipe bushing. A pipe bushing makes it possible to move the steam and water wand freely without leaking. So how does it work?

Well the pipe bushing has on the valve side 2 o rings, these seal against the side of the inside of the valve. But on the top ring of the pipe bushing there is also place for a spring. This spring also gives some stiffness to the steam and water wand. Because there is a spring, the steam wand will stay in a fixed place once it has been moved. If there is no spring it will fall back to the lowest point.

To seal steam wand to the valve the coupling of the stainless ball(that’s on the end of the steam wand) and the brass steam pipe bushing is not enough. So between these surfaces there is also a o ring present.

This specific brass steam pipe bushing is quite common with a lot of models made by Vibiemme. But you will also see it with brands like La Scala, Grimac and ECM.
