The filterbaskets used on Astoria brewing groups can be found in various sizes and shapes. There are 2 main sizes, the small size of 65mm and the big size of 70mm. All these filterbaskets are made by the Italian company IMS Filtri.
The small size of brewing group has a filterbasket which has a outer diameter of 65mm. There is a single filterbasket, a double and a blind filter available. The single basket hold approx. 7 grams of ground coffee and the double baskets holds about 14 grams of ground coffee. This filterbasket is only used on Astoria Plus 4 you espresso machines. There are also competition/precision baskets available, these are the ones used on La Spaziale espresso machines.
The bigger 70mm size is a more common size. This filterbasket is available in single coffee baskets which hold 6-7 grams of ground coffee and double baskets which hold between 12 and 18 grams of ground coffee. The blind filter is a standard stainless steel version.
For the 70mm filterbaskets is also a competition/precision filterbasket available, made by the company IMS Filtri. These baskets are also single and double coffee.
So to be clear, not all baskets are interchangeable between the Astoria CMA espresso machines. If you are not sure which basket you need, measure your original basket.
