Models of La Cimbali Magnum On Demand
The Cimbali Magnum coffee grinder is available in both doser and On Demand versions. Specifically, there are three versions of the Magnum On Demand:
- Cimbali Magnum On Demand
- Cimbali Magnum On Demand Wireless
- Cimbali Magnum On Demand Wireless BDS
While these models share many similarities, there are also technical differences, particularly in the wireless and BDS versions. Below, we’ll provide an overview of the components and features used across these versions.
Components of the Cimbali Magnum On Demand
Here’s an overview of the key components found in the various versions of the Magnum On Demand grinder, including grinding blades, motors, and other relevant parts.
Grinding Blades
The Cimbali Magnum On Demand coffee grinder is built for commercial use, and it can be fitted with either flat or conical grinding burrs:
-
Flat Grinding Burrs:
- Outer Diameter: 63.5mm
- Inner Diameter: 38mm
- Thickness: 9mm
-
Conical Grinding Burrs:
- Outer Diameter: 47mm and 31.8mm
- Inner Diameter: 31.8mm and 10mm
- Thickness: 20mm (for both burrs)
These burrs are engineered for durability and precise grinding, making them ideal for high-volume settings.
Grinder Motor
The grinding burrs are powered by a 300W motor, providing sufficient power for commercial coffee grinding:
- Flat Grinding Burr Models:
- Available in single-phase or three-phase versions.
- Conical Grinding Burr Models:
- Available only in single-phase. This version requires a start capacitor to get the motor running.
The ability to choose between single-phase and three-phase motors for flat burr models allows businesses to select the best option based on their electrical setup.
Grind Adjustment
The Cimbali Magnum On Demand offers two methods for controlling the grinder settings:
-
Push Button Panel or Touchscreen: Both control panels allow users to select between grinding for 1 coffee or 2 coffees. The grinder starts when the microswitch behind the portafilter fork is activated by the portafilter.
-
Coarseness Adjustment:
- For manual adjustment, certain models have a shaft protruding from the grinder body, allowing users to turn it clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust the distance between the burrs, which affects the coarseness of the ground coffee.
- On Bluetooth-equipped models, the distance between the grinding burrs can be adjusted using a small electric motor, which is located at the back of the grinder. This feature automates grind size adjustments for even greater precision.
Cimbali Magnum On Demand Wireless BDS
The Wireless BDS (Barista Driving System) is the most advanced version of the La Cimbali Magnum On Demand. It features sensors that allow baristas to choose between a single dose, double dose, or continuous grinding mode. This system optimizes workflow by ensuring that the correct dose is ground automatically, streamlining the process for busy coffee shops.
