The Italian manufacturer La Cimbali has made over the years a variety of coffee grinder models. Which can be of various types. There are 2 main categories, that is the Doser coffee grinder and the On demand coffee grinder.
The on demand coffee grinder is a type of coffee grinder which is more common the last 10-15 years. This is also the case with La Cimbali. With models such as the Magnum on demand, Cimbali Elective and the Cimbali G50.
But what makes a on demand grinder different then a doser grinder? Well a on demand grinder only grinds the coffee that you need at that moment, so your espresso will always be fresh.
The doser coffee grinder is the oldest type of coffee grinder. In this case the grinder grinds a certain amount of time to fill the doser on the front of the grinder. By pulling the dosing lever the coffee will fall out of the doser. The grinder does register this how often this happens and will start grinding after a certain amount of pulls. Examples of La Cimbali coffee grinders of this are the Cimbali Conik and the Cimbali Cadet.
Model
The coffee grinder La Cimbali MD Junior is a older type of doser coffee grinder. This specific model is designed to go with the Cimbali M21 Junior espresso machine. It has a small footprint, so it will fit on any countertop next to the espresso machine. This specific coffee grinder is fitted with flat grinding burrs. It is small but has plenty enough capacity for a small office or for a home barista.
One of the more iconic La Cimbali coffee grinders is the La Cimbali Magnum. This coffee grinder is called a doser version. seen it has a storage doser on the front of the coffee grinder. The Magnum series coffee grinders have been fitted with a bit brownish plastic hoppers and doser glass. Which is not really common to do so.
This coffee grinder is fitted with flat grinding burrs. Where the Magnum on demand also has a version which is fitted with conical grinding burrs.
The La Cimbali Magnum on demand is the on demand version of the Cimbali Magnum coffee grinder, it’s in the name. This coffee grinder does have a lot in common with the doser version of the Cimbali Magnum, but technically they are not a like.
This coffee grinder is available in a 3 phase version, but also in a single phase model. Which is the more common version. A other handy feature, with some models, is that they can be connected to a portafilter so that the grinder knows which type of portafilter it needs to grind for.
