La San Marco 85 - Steam/water valve

The steam and water valves on the La San Marco 85 espresso machines are both manual valves and not a combination of solenoid and manual valve combined. The type of valve used on the SM 85 is for the steam and water valve a identical part.  The steam and water valves used on the San Marco espresso machines have in most cases the straight black Bakelite handle.

This valve is operated when you move the straight handle up or downward, in the middle position the valve is closed. The steam and water valve outlet work according to the same principle. These items are both swivel joints and can remain seated because of the compression spring inside the steam and water valve outlet assemblies.
