The Oscar II uses a solenoid-operated brewing group. While it’s slightly simpler than the commercial versions, many parts are interchangeable with Nuova Simonelli’s commercial machines.
The portafilters used on the Oscar II are standard Nuova Simonelli commercial portafilters, also compatible with various Victoria Arduino machines. These portafilters have a 45-degree ear orientation and a 7mm ear thickness. Some OEM portafilters even come with a nanotech coating.
The Oscar II is fitted with a standard boiler, not a heat exchanger. It operates with a 1200W heating element, available in both 110V and 230V configurations. The temperature is regulated by a pressure switch, which, while less accurate than electronic temperature control, is more affordable and suitable for domestic use. The boiler is also insulated to improve efficiency.

To maintain coffee quality, regularly backflush the machine. You'll need a blind filter and a cleaning solution like Puly Caff. Add the cleaning solution to the blind filter in the portafilter, start the brewing process, and stop it at intervals. This process cleans the brewing group and solenoid valve. Afterward, repeat the process with water only.
If you use the steam tube, it’s important to clean it after each use. Fill a milk pitcher with water and Brooks Milk Cleaner, and let the steam tip and tube soak. Purge the steam valve a few times and wipe off any dried milk with a microfiber cloth. Rinse with clean water.
