Which type of replacement knockbar you need to have depends on which brand of knockbox you have. Seen all manufacturers of knockboxes use a own size and shape of knockbar.
Ronda Knockboxes
The Italian brand Ronda has a variety of knockboxes and drawers. The most common models are the ones which are build in the bar itself. One can slide out completely and the other one tilts open for a certain amount. The knockbar used on current ronda knockboxes is quite different then with other brands. This model has hangers on each side, which grip over the edge of the knockbox bin. These can be used for instance on the Ronda AP292 and the Ronda AC47.
Priolinox coffee knockboxes
The other brand famous Italian brand which makes commercial grade knockboxes is Priolinox. The knockbars used in Priolinox are a lot simpler then the ones made by Ronda, which also makes them less expensive. The replacement knockbar for Priolinox have a outer diameter of 39mm and a length of 320mm. The originals have a metal tube, but the after market ones can be found with a wooden bar in the middle. The advantage of this is that it dampens hitting the bar with a portafilter.
These can be used on the Priolinox sliding drawers, as well as on their Priolinox 3075 tilting knockbox.
Is the knockbar on the Breville knock box replaceable?
Well no, these are not replacable. If you want to replace it you just need to buy a new Breville, Sage or Solis knockbox. It might be handier to go for a bit more high end product.
How do I clean a portafilter knockbox and knockbar?
Cleaning your knockbox, in this case a commercial grade, can be quite simple. Normally the coffee pucks are quite dry, so you won’t leave a lot of residue behind in the knockbox. So you can take it out of the drawer and throw the waste in the trash. After that you can rinse the tray in under the tab.
