History of the Rancilio Group
The espresso machine company Rancilio was founded in 1926. And from 2011 they are part of the Rancilio group. Companies like the espresso machine manufacturer Promac and the swiss company Egro are also part of this group.
Rancilio started initially with the production of the lever espresso machine, seen the pump driven espresso machine didn’t exist at that moment. When the pump driven espresso machines where introduced Rancilio also started to produce these types of espresso coffee machines. But up to the current day they still produce lever operated espresso machines.
The latest additional of the Rancilio group is the Rancilio Specialty. This espresso machine goes more to the specialty coffee side then their traditional line of espresso machines

Rancilio Silvia
This espresso machine, the Rancilio Silvia, might be the most well know domestic espresso machine around. This coffee machine is fantastic when you don’t have too much space in your kitchen and don’t have a fixed water line. This espresso machine is in production since 1997 in various configurations. At the moment they are at model no 6, the Rancilio Silvia is even made with a PID temperature controller.
Rancilio Epoca
The Rancilio Epoca is one of the basic models of Rancilio. They are made in a single group and a 2 group version. Which makes this espresso machine ideal for small offices and bars, the single brewing group can even be used with a water tank on the back. The Epoca espresso machines are iconic because of their grey body panels, red ones are out of production.
Rancilio Rocky coffee grinder
The Rancilio Rocky is made in 2 configurations, the “on demand” version and the SD version. Where the “on demand” version only grinds the coffee you use at that specific moment. Is the SD version a coffee grinder with a doser on the front, where a certain amount of ground coffee is stored.
Rancilio Classe 5
The Rancilio Classe 5 is one of the later models of the Rancilio series. This is basically the successor of the Rancilio Epoca, it does have a lot of similar features. Seen it is available from a 1 brewing group all the way up to 3 brewing groups, so it is a ideal espresso machine for any brand.
