Rocket Appartamento espresso machine

This espresso machine is one of the domestic espresso machines made by the Italian brand Rocket Milano. There are a variety of other domestic espresso machines next to the Appartamento. For the other espresso machine models you can find spare parts on the other product pages.

The technical features of the Rocket Appartamento

The Rocket Appartamento is a single group coffee machine. On the back of the coffee machine is the water tank, so there is no fixed water line required. From this tank the water is pumped, with a Ulka vibration pump, into the coffee boiler. This boiler, which is a Heat Exchanger model, is fitted with a 230V or a 115V element. This heating element is controlled with a pressure switch.

The boiler is used for various things, it provides the steam valve from steam and the water valve from boiling water. So this espresso machine can be used to make your morning latte’s

The brewing group which is installed on the Appartamento is one of the E61 style of brewing group. This manual brewing group is based on the Faema E61 brewing groups, but the brewing groups of Rocket do have other components installed in them.

Types of parts for the Rocket Appartamento

The spare parts used on this espresso machine are partially universal spare parts, but also a lot of unique parts of Rocket Milano. These parts can’t be found on any other espresso machine brand.

Brewing group

The brewing group used on the Rocket Appartamento is one of the E61 type. But the ones used on Rocket have parts which you will only find on Rocket espresso machines, even though it are a few small things. Such as various valve components and upper brewing group parts.

Rocket portafilter

The portafilters used on the Rocket Milano Appartamento espresso machines are standard types of portafilters. That mainly has to do that the brewing group used on this espresso machine is a e61 style of brewing group. There are 2 versions available, a OEM/original model and a aftermarket one. There are also some price differences between them, but not a lot. The OEM spare part has the Rocket logo name embossed in the casting, where the after market model doesn’t have that same feature.

Cleaning your Rocket Appartamento coffee machine

Keeping your Rocket Appartamento clean is one of the most important things you need to do to keep your coffee machine in good working order.  Then you need to think of things such as Descaling, backflushing the brewing group and cleaning the steam tube.

Backflushing the brewing group

Keeping the internals clean of your E61 brewing group on your Rocket Appartamento can be quite important. Take a blind filter and Puly Caff cleaning solution and let the brewing group run with the blind filter installed. You do need to repeat this procedure a couple of times and afterwards you do need to do this procedure without the cleaning solution, so that you rinse with solely water.

Steam tube cleaning

Keeping the steam tube of your Rocket Appartamento clean, in the case if you make cappuccino’s or Latte’s, is very important. This can be done pretty simple. Take a milk pitcher, and fill it with drinking water and Brooks Milk cleaner. Put the milk pitcher underneath the steam tube and let the steam tube/steam tip soak, you can purge the valve a couple of times. After soaking the steam tip you should be easily remove the milk residues with a cloth. Rinse the steam tube with drinking water.

Descaling

Descaling the boiler of your Rocket Appartamento does only work when you do this every quarter. If not then doing it is quite pointless. Seen the scale buildup would be too big to do this. To descale your espresso machine you can use Brooks Greenie descaler.
