On the Rocket R58 espresso machine there is not just one boiler, but also a second boiler. This type of system is called a Dual Boiler assembly. These types of assemblies are a bit more expensive then regular single boiler setups. Both boilers are installed vertically. One of them is for generating steam and warm water, the other one is solely for hot water as brewing water for making coffee.

The brewing group boiler is a small vertical boiler. In the bottom of this boiler is a heating element installed, which can be a 115V or a 230V. This type of heating element produces 1400W. The heating element is fed from a Solid State Relay(SSR) this relay is controlled by a temperature probe installed inside the side of the boiler. If the heating element isn’t switched off automatically you do have a safety thermostat, at 135 degree, installed on the side.

The steam and water boiler is a slightly, bigger boiler. This boiler is fitted with more traditional features such as a level probe, vacuum valve and a safety valve. This boiler is fitted with a different type of heating element, also a 115V or 230V, the dimensions are different but the wattage of the element is also 1400W. With this boiler it is also the case that it is controlled by a temperature probe in the top of the boiler, this makes the SSR switch the heating element off.
