How to find the correct La San Marco spare part

La San Marco has produced professional espresso machines in many versions and group configurations. One component may be used across several machine families, while another visually similar part may only fit a particular model or production version.

Before ordering, check:

  • the complete La San Marco model name;
  • the machine series or version;
  • whether the machine is manual, volumetric or lever operated;
  • the number of brewing groups;
  • the machine voltage;
  • the voltage and wattage of electrical parts;
  • the original La San Marco part number;
  • the thread and connection type;
  • the dimensions of the original component;
  • the function and mounting position of the part.

La San Marco also uses components from specialist manufacturers such as pump, valve and electronic-control manufacturers. These components can be shared with other espresso machine brands. A part does not need to carry the La San Marco name to be suitable for a La San Marco machine; the technical specification and stated compatibility are what matter.

La San Marco 85 parts

The La San Marco 85 is a long-running professional espresso machine family that has been produced in several configurations. These include manual and volumetric pump-operated versions as well as other variants within the 85 series.

When selecting La San Marco 85 parts, identify the complete version of the machine. Components used for brewing-group control, dosing and electronics can differ between versions even when mechanical parts are shared.

Parts for the 85 series can include:

  • portafilters and filter baskets;
  • group gaskets and shower screens;
  • group jets and diffusers;
  • steam and water valve parts;
  • pumps and motors;
  • heating elements;
  • pressure switches and gauges;
  • level-control components;
  • switches and electronic controls.

La San Marco 95 parts

The La San Marco 95 was produced in several configurations, including manual and volumetric versions. Machines can also differ by the number of brewing groups and by specific subversions.

For La San Marco 95 parts, check whether the machine is an S, E or another 95-series configuration before selecting dosing, flowmeter or electronic components.

Mechanical components such as gaskets, filter baskets, valve parts and selected hydraulic components can be shared with other La San Marco models. Always verify the original reference or the technical specification before ordering.

La San Marco 100 parts

The La San Marco 100 family includes several configurations, including Practical, Sprint and other manual or electronically controlled versions. The number of groups and the type of dosing control are important when selecting electrical and hydraulic components.

Browse La San Marco 100 parts and check the complete machine designation before ordering.

On volumetric machines, components such as flowmeters, dosing devices and touch panels form part of the automatic coffee-dosing system. Other versions use a simpler manual start-and-stop control.

La San Marco 105 parts

The La San Marco 105 has been produced in technically different versions. Older and later 105 machines should not automatically be treated as the same machine when selecting boiler, brewing-group, electronic or hydraulic parts.

When choosing La San Marco 105 parts, check whether the component is listed for the correct generation, group configuration and machine voltage.

This is particularly important for:

  • boiler and heating components;
  • brewing-group parts;
  • electronic controls;
  • temperature and level components;
  • machine-specific pipes and fittings.

Manual and volumetric La San Marco machines

Many traditional La San Marco commercial machines were produced in manual and volumetric configurations.

On a manual or non-volumetric machine, the barista starts and stops the brewing cycle directly. A volumetric machine uses additional components to measure and control the amount of water used for extraction.

Depending on the model, volumetric control can involve:

  • flowmeters;
  • dosing devices;
  • push-button panels;
  • electronic control boards;
  • additional wiring and connectors.

Mechanical group components may sometimes be shared between manual and volumetric versions, while the control system is different. Always identify the exact version before selecting electronic parts.

La San Marco brewing-group parts

The brewing group contains several components that are subject to heat, pressure, water and mechanical wear. Common service items include portafilter gaskets, shower screens, diffusers, jets, seals, solenoid valves and fittings.

Water leaking around the portafilter is often associated with a worn group gasket, but the gasket is not the only possible cause. Also check:

  • wear on the portafilter locking ears;
  • the condition of the group locking surfaces;
  • the filter basket;
  • coffee residue around the gasket seat;
  • the thickness and condition of the installed gasket.

For additional service parts, browse:

La San Marco portafilters and filter baskets

Many traditional La San Marco commercial brewing groups use a characteristic three-ear portafilter locking configuration. Ear thickness and exact locking dimensions can differ, so a visually similar three-ear portafilter is not automatically suitable.

Before ordering a replacement portafilter, check:

  • the La San Marco machine model;
  • the number and orientation of the locking ears;
  • the thickness of the ears;
  • the position in which the portafilter locks;
  • the filter-basket diameter;
  • the original part reference where available.

Single, double and bottomless portafilters are available for compatible La San Marco brewing groups. Filter baskets can also be shared across several San Marco machines when their dimensions and locking system correspond.

Pumps and pump motors

Professional La San Marco pump-operated espresso machines commonly use a rotary-vane pump driven by an electric motor. Pumps from specialist manufacturers can be used on different espresso machine brands when flow capacity, mounting and connections correspond.

For this reason, a pump does not need to be branded La San Marco to be correct for the machine.

Before replacing a pump or motor, check:

  • the pump type;
  • pump capacity;
  • clamp or flange mounting;
  • inlet and outlet threads;
  • flow direction;
  • motor voltage and phase;
  • shaft and coupling arrangement.

A machine that does not build the correct pressure does not automatically need a new pump. Also inspect the water supply, pump bypass, inlet valves, non-return valves and possible restrictions in the hydraulic circuit.

Browse our espresso machine pumps.

Boilers and heating elements

La San Marco commercial machines have been produced with different boiler sizes and heating configurations depending on the model, number of groups and electrical specification.

Before ordering a heating element, check:

  • the complete machine model;
  • the number of brewing groups;
  • the machine voltage;
  • the element voltage and wattage;
  • the flange dimensions;
  • the immersed length;
  • the number and position of electrical terminals;
  • the La San Marco part number.

A boiler that does not heat does not automatically have a defective heating element. Depending on the machine, the problem can also involve a pressure switch, thermostat, safety thermostat, contactor, relay, control board or electrical connection.

Browse our espresso machine heating elements.

Steam and hot-water valves

Steam and hot-water valves contain several wear components, including valve shafts, PTFE seals, flat gaskets, O-rings, springs, bushes, cams, handles and steam tubes.

A valve that continues to leak while closed can have a worn internal seal or valve seat. Difficult operation can be caused by contamination, scale, shaft wear or damaged internal components.

Different La San Marco series can share individual valve components without using exactly the same complete valve. Compare the original reference, dimensions and valve construction.

Browse our steam valves and steam-valve parts.

Solenoid valves

La San Marco machines use solenoid valves for functions such as brewing-group operation, automatic boiler filling and other water-control functions.

Solenoid valves from manufacturers such as Parker or other specialist valve manufacturers can be used by several espresso machine brands. Compatibility depends on the actual specification rather than the brand name printed on the valve.

Before ordering, check:

  • coil voltage;
  • two-way or three-way configuration;
  • thread or flange mounting;
  • inlet and outlet arrangement;
  • flow direction;
  • position and function in the machine;
  • the original La San Marco reference where available.

A solenoid-valve fault is not always caused by the coil. Scale, debris or a blocked valve core can produce similar symptoms.

Browse our espresso machine solenoid valves.

Automatic boiler filling and water-level control

Professional La San Marco machines can use automatic boiler-level control to maintain the correct amount of water in the steam boiler.

The system can include:

  • a level probe;
  • an electronic level regulator;
  • an inlet solenoid valve;
  • water-inlet components;
  • electrical wiring.

If the boiler does not fill, overfills or fills intermittently, inspect the complete circuit before replacing the level controller. Scale on the probe, a blocked water inlet, a defective valve or poor electrical contact can produce similar symptoms.

Sight glasses and boiler water level

Many traditional commercial espresso machines use a sight glass to give a direct visual indication of the water level in the boiler.

A sight-glass assembly can contain:

  • the glass tube;
  • upper and lower fittings;
  • sight-glass gaskets;
  • washers and sleeves;
  • protective components.

When replacing these parts, compare glass diameter, length, fitting dimensions and gasket type. Work on a boiler sight glass only when the machine is completely cold and fully depressurised.

Pressure switches, safety components and gauges

La San Marco machines can use mechanical pressure switches to control boiler pressure and gauges to display boiler and pump pressure.

When selecting a pressure switch, check:

  • pressure range;
  • electrical rating;
  • single- or three-phase application;
  • thread connection;
  • mounting arrangement.

For a pressure gauge, compare the pressure scale, dial diameter, fitting position, pipe or capillary connection and mounting dimensions.

Safety valves and other boiler safety components must match the required pressure specification and connection. Do not replace a safety component solely because another part has the same thread size.

Flowmeters, dosing devices and touch panels

Volumetric La San Marco machines use electrical and electronic components to control automatic coffee dosing.

Depending on the machine, this system can contain:

  • flowmeters;
  • dosing devices;
  • push-button panels;
  • touch panels;
  • electronic control boards;
  • switches and related wiring.

When replacing an electronic component, check the complete part number, machine voltage, number of brewing groups, connector arrangement and machine version.

A control unit that appears identical is not automatically suitable for another group configuration.

Browse our espresso machine dosing devices.

Universal and shared espresso machine parts

Not every component used in a La San Marco machine is unique to La San Marco. Professional espresso machine manufacturers often use standardised or supplier-made components such as pumps, pressure switches, fittings, valves, O-rings and electrical parts.

These components can therefore be suitable for machines from several manufacturers. When a product is listed for La San Marco as well as another brand, this does not make it a generic or incorrect choice. The important points are that the technical specification, dimensions and intended function match the La San Marco machine.

For shared components, check:

  • dimensions;
  • thread standard;
  • voltage and wattage;
  • pressure or flow specification;
  • material;
  • mounting type;
  • La San Marco model compatibility where stated.

Original and compatible La San Marco parts

This category contains both original La San Marco components and compatible replacement parts.

An original component is supplied according to a La San Marco part reference. A compatible part can be made by another manufacturer and is intended to replace or perform the same function as the corresponding component when the technical specifications match.

Compatible does not mean universally suitable for every La San Marco machine. Always verify:

  • the La San Marco part number where available;
  • the listed machine models;
  • the machine version;
  • dimensions and connections;
  • material;
  • voltage and wattage;
  • pressure and flow specifications where relevant.

La San Marco lever-machine parts

La San Marco has also produced many lever-operated espresso machines. Some components used on these machines can be shared with pump-operated La San Marco models, particularly selected portafilter, valve, boiler and hydraulic parts.

Lever brewing groups also contain model-specific mechanical components. Do not assume that a part from a pump-operated 85, 95, 100 or 105 fits a lever group unless the compatibility information specifically confirms this.

La San Marco espresso parts and grinder parts

La San Marco has produced both professional espresso machines and coffee grinders. Because these are different equipment types, use the appropriate section when identifying parts.

This category is intended primarily for La San Marco espresso machine components. For grinder burrs and components for models such as SM90, SM92, SM95, SM97, SMLK and SMTK, browse our La San Marco grinder spare parts.

Cleaning and preventive maintenance

Regular servicing helps keep the brewing groups, valves, steam system and hydraulic circuit in good condition.

Typical maintenance includes:

  • cleaning the brewing groups and shower screens;
  • removing coffee residue around portafilter gaskets;
  • cleaning steam tubes after use;
  • checking hoses, pipes and fittings for leaks;
  • inspecting valve seals and O-rings;
  • checking sight-glass seals;
  • monitoring water quality and scale formation.

Water treatment and descaling requirements depend on the machine, local water quality and the condition of the boiler. Avoid using a single generic descaling procedure for every La San Marco machine.

Cannot find the correct La San Marco part?

Record the complete machine model, version, number of brewing groups, serial number and voltage. Also note every number printed or stamped on the original component.

Clear photographs can help distinguish between similar parts. Include photographs of:

  • the complete component;
  • electrical or hydraulic connections;
  • part numbers and labels;
  • threaded connections;
  • mounting points;
  • the installed position inside the machine.

For additional component types, browse our complete range of espresso machine parts.
