A single coffee portafilter is used for 1 coffee, this is also the case for a bottomless or naked portafilter, but on this page you will find the classical single portafilters. These types of portafilters are called non pressurized portafilters. There are also portafilters which are pressurized, but we currently don’t offer those.
When you need a single portafilter you need to ask yourself various questions, seen not all the portafilters are the same;
- What kind of espresso machine do I have?
- Which size of portafilter uses my espresso machine?
- What kind of coffee spout do I want on my portafilter?
- What kind of filterbasket do I need on my portafilter?
- What types of single coffee spouts are there available?
What kind of espresso machine do I have?
This might sound like a odd question, but this might be one of the most important questions. Seen not every brand uses the same size single portafilter, there are even differences between the models of the same brand. Seen there are various types of brewing groups. For instance a Breville portafilter won’t fit a Faema or Victoria Arduino espresso machine.
In most cases you see that the single portafilters for domestic espresso machines are smaller then the ones used on commercial espresso machines. But nowadays you do see more often that there are more professional domestic espresso machines which features you only find on commercial espresso machines.
Which size of portafilter uses my espresso machine?
This is a really handy to ask yourself. Seen for instance a domestic La Pavoni Europiccola, uses a completely different portafilter size then one used on a commercial Pavoni coffee machine. or when you have a breville portafilter, this can be a 58mm breville barista express portafilter or a 54mm portafilter. These two types of portafilters are not interchangeable on Breville/Solis or Sage espresso machines. if you are not sure which portafilter you need to choose, don't hesitate to contact us so that we can help you.
What kind of filterbasket do I need on my portafilter?
In most cases the single portafilters we sell do come with a filterbasket already installed. But you can always order additional portafilter filterbaskets for it. You do need to make sure that you have the right diameter of filterbasket. Because there it is also the case as with the question above, if you don’t have the right diameter filterbasket, it won’t fit into your portafilter body. Seen a filterbasket for a 54mm portafilter won’t fit a portafilter for a 58mm filterbasket.
What types of single coffee spouts are there available?
In almost all cases all our single portafilters are fitted with a single coffee spout. This can range from a closed model, to a open or a completely straight one. We do sell coffee spouts separately if you want to change the ones on your espresso machine. But always be aware that there are various thread types made for portafilters.
How do I keep my single portafilter clean?
This might be one of the least asked questions, but maybe one of the most important one. Seen if you have a filthy single portafilter, you will never be able to make a good espresso to your guests. The easiest way to clean your single coffee portafilter is to clean a bucket with warm water and add Puly Caff. Note: don’t submerge the handle. After soaking this you can easily remove the coffee residue with the brooks cleaning cloths and for the spout you can use our cleaning brushes.
