The pumps and motors used on the espresso machines of La Cimbali are all internal motors and pump. The design of the pumps is unique for the La Cimbali group, where La Cimbali part of is.
The earlier models of la Cimbali used the clamp on type of espresso machine pump. But at some point they started to use bolt on pumps. These pumps are bolted, with 2 or 3 bolts, to a flange on the espresso machine motor(depends on the model of pump). This configuration can only be found on espresso machines used by Casadio, Faema and Cimbali.
Next to the bolt on feature the shaft is the next thing. There are 2 versions a small flat shaft and a D style of shaft. These shafts require a coupler set to attach the shaft of the pump to the shaft of the Cimbali motor.
The pumps which have these features are made by the brands Procon, Fluid o Tech and Nuert. Some are available in a low lead brass version, but from Nuert and Fluid o tech they are available in Stainless steel.
