The type of brewing group used on the Rancilio Classe 5 espresso machine is a standard Rancilio solenoid operated one. The Xcelcius model is not available for the Rancilio Classe 5 model. But you do have the Leva version of the Classe 5, which is a different type of brewing group.
The water flows from the heat exchanger towards the top of the group of the group head. From there it flows true the nozzle/filter membrane towards the shower screen assembly. This shower screen has a central fixing hole and a outer diameter of 57,5mm. you can use standard IMS shower screens for this, but also the IMS competition shower screens.
These brewing groups have been fitted with a portafilter gasket with a outer diameter of 72mm, a inner diameter of 57mm and a thickness of 8,5mm.
The portafilters used on these Rancilio brewing groups can be used on virtually every commercial brewing group made by Rancilio. These portafilters have a ear orientation of 90 degree and a ear thickness of 6mm. The handles used on these portafilters are unique to the brand Rancilio.
Keeping your Rancilio coffee machine clean is one of the more important things if you want to keep serving high quality espresso’s. This can be done by backflushing your espresso machine every single day, when it is used. With proper cleaning detergents you can easily keep your brewing group clean. If you don’t do that the chance is present that your brewing group and or solenoid valve will clog up.
