Models of the Vibiemme Domobar
In the text above was mentioned that there are various versions available of the Vibiemme Domobar, this does make sense seen there are over the time various new model versions introduced.
The Vibiemme Domobar
This version of the VBM Domobar is the oldest version. It can be easily identified with the fixed steam tube and the red electrical buttons on the front of the machine, which are integrated in the stainless steel front. In this stainless steel front you will find also the pump pressure gauge and the indicator lights
On this model of the Domobar you have a water tank on the back, from this water tank the water is pumped, with the help of a Ulka vibration pump into the boiler. This boiler can be powered with a 110V or a 230V heating element, which produces approx. 1350W.
On the front of the espresso machine you will find the brewing group, this is one of the type of a E61 Style. This specific model is a manual operated brewing group. The mechanism on the side functions to operate the internal components and to activate the pump switch to activate the Ulka vibration pump.
The Vibiemme Domobar Junior
This version of the Vibiemme Domobar is called the Junior, this version comes in 2 configurations. One is the Heat Exchanger(HX) and the other one is the Dual boiler model. The 2 configurations will be discusses separately.
The Vibiemme Domobar junior HX is one of the versions available of the Vibiemme Domobar. This espresso machine has on the front a water and a steam valve. The valve sticks out of the stainless steel front, seen with the older one only the knob was visible. In this stainless steel front you will find also a pressure gauge for the boiler and for the pump. On the back of the VBM Domobar HX you will find a water tank, which makes it ideal if you don’t have a main water line available.
The boiler used on this espresso machine is based on a HX principle, the model is a vertical oriented one. With on the top parts such as the pressure switch, level probe, safety valve and a vacuum valve.
The Vibiemme Domobar Junior Dual boiler
This is the other version of the VBM Junior coffee machine, with the biggest difference is that this espresso machine has 2 individual boilers. One is for the brewing group and the other one is for the steam and water valve. Both the boilers are fitted with a 600W heating element, this can be a 110V or 230V. One of the heating elements is controlled with a pressure switch and the other one with a thermostat.
This version of the Junior is also fitted with a water tank on the back, where the Ulka vibration pump is used to pump the water into the boilers and towards the brewing group. On this model this is also a manual E61 style of brewing group. On the front stainless steel panel you find various switches, pressure gauges and the steam and water valve. Below the brewing group you have the drip tray and drip grid. Don’t forget to regularly empty this.
The Vibiemme Domobar Super espresso machine is a bigger version of the Vibiemme Domobar espresso machine. The version is available in 4 versions. To say it simple a single boiler and a multi boiler system and a volumetric and a non volumetric version. These Domobar version have a variety of features
The Vibiemme Domobar Super Elletronica 2B
This version of the VBM Domobar is the volumetric version with 2 boilers, but that’s not all. The coffee boiler is powered with a 800W heating element and the steam boiler is powered by a heating element of 1200W. These heating elements are controlled for the steam/water boiler with a manual pressure switch and the coffee brew boiler is controlled with a thermal PID, which controls a relay.
Seen this is a volumetric version you will also find a flowmeter and a dosing device. On the front stainless steel panel you will find the push button panel for the coffee selection. As well as a pump pressure gauge and a boiler pressure gauge. But also the display of the thermal PID.
The brewing group used on this Domobar model is a e61 style of brewing group, but not a manual one this is a solenoid operated brewing group. Which is controlled by the touchpanel on top of the espresso machine.
The Vibiemme Domobar Super Elletronica HX
Other then the 2B (dual boiler) version of the VBM Domobar Super Elletronica is this the version with a Heat Exchanger (HX) boiler. in this boiler will find a single heating element which produces 1800W at 230V. Other features you will find on this boiler is a safety thermostat, various fittings, vacuum valve, safety valve and a level probe. The heating element is controlled with a mechanical pressure switch.
This is the “Elletronica” version which means that this is a volumetric versions of the Domobar Super. So that requires also some additional parts such as a dosing device, flowmeter and a touchpanel. This touchpanel can be found on the front of the machine, embedded in the stainless steel cover. In this cover you will also find other parts such as the pump pressure gauge and the boiler pressure gauge.
The brewing group, which is located on the front of the espresso machine, is fitted with a E61 Style of brewing group. Seen it is volumetric it is controlled with a solenoid valve, which is located underneath the brewing group. Which is covered with a small metal shield. This brewing group does use the same gaskets and portafilters as the manual brewing group of Vibiemme.
The next versions of the Vibiemme Domobar Super are the non volumetric ones, these versions are a little less complex then the volumetric ones described above. These are also 2 versions available of. This model is called the VBM Domobar Super Manuale
The VBM Domobar Super Manuale 2B
This version of the VBM Domobar is the manual version with a dual boiler, that is what the 2B indicates. For that reason there is a steam and water boiler and a separate coffee brewing boiler. The coffee boiler is powered with a 800W heating element and the steam and water boiler is fitted with a 1200W heating element. On the coffee boiler this heating element is controlled with a temperature sensor and on the steam/water boiler with a pressure switch.
On the front of the Super manuale you will find a small display where you can set the temperature for the coffee boiler. But you will also find a steam valve, water valve a pressure gauge for the pump and a manometer for the boiler.
At this location there is also the “manuale” brewing group installed, this is a e61 style of brewing group. But unlike with the “Elletronica” version this one is manually operated.
Vibiemme Domobar Digitale
The Latest addition to the Vibiemme Domobar line of espresso machines is the VBM Domobar Digitale. This espresso machine is fitted with a single coffee boiler, which does have a fitting for a steam valve. The boiler has a heating element installed of 1350W, which can be 110V or 230V. The control of the heating elements is done with a temperature sensor, when the thermal PID reads a too low temperature the element will go on when the temperature is reached then the element will turn off. This is done with the help of a Solid State Relay(SSR).
The control of the temperature of the boiler is done with the display and keyboard on the front of the espresso machine, this is integrated in the stainless steel front. Below the display you will find the E61 style of brewing group, this specific model of brewing group is based on the E61 brewing group but slightly different technically and aesthetically.
