Frequently Asked Questions

We would not advice to do so, seen the capacity is too little to proper function in a bar or a restaurant. For a small office this espresso machine would be a good solution, as well as the use in a kitchen.

Well this does depend on how old your Bezzera BZ10 is. Seen you have 2 model versions. There is a pre- 26-06-2010 and a post 27-05-2010 version. The older type is in it’s original configuration isn’t available anymore, for this is a relay rebuild kit available which is the same as the new model.

They are both operated with a Ma-ter pressure switch with is fitted with a safety valve and with a relay. The older ones had a build on relay, but the latest ones have a separate relay.

This model of Bezzera espresso machine is fitted with a solenoid operated Bezzera ring brewing group, so it hasn’t been fitted with a E61 style of brewing group.

The Bezzera BZ10 espresso machine is fitted with a water tank, from this tank the water is pumped, with a Ulka vibration pump, towards the brewing group and into the boiler. So you won’t be able to fit a main water connection to this espresso machine.

The Bezzera BZ10 has been fitted with a double scale pressure gauge, or manometer. So you will see 2 needles, one is for the pump pressure and the other is for the boiler pressure. The boiler pressure goes from 0 up to 3 bar and the pump pressure goes from 0 up to 16 bar.

Bezzera BZ10 S PM parts

The Bezzera BZ10 single group espresso machine is a single heat exchanger(HX) boiler machine. The boiler pressure inside the boiler is controlled with the help of a Ma-ter pressure switch, so it’s not a espresso machine which is controlled with a thermal PID.

The brewing group used on the Bezzera BZ10 is one which is a typical Bezzera brewing group. This type of brewing group has been fitted with 2 heating elements to keep the temperature of the brewing group stable.

Portafilter Bezzera BZ10

You can not use any portafilter on the brewing group used on the Bezzera BZ10, seen there are various brewing groups which don’t have interchangeable portafilters. The type of portafilter for the BZ10 has a 45 degree ear orientation and a ear thickness of 5,5mm.

The portafilters used on the E61 style of brewing group have a 90 degree orientation and a ear thickness of 6,3mm.

Gaskets on the Bezzera BZ10

The portafilter gasket on the Bezzera BZ10 espresso machine is not a typical portafilter gasket. These are normally square or conical in shape. But the BZ10 uses a o ring portafilter gasket as a sealing gasket of the portafilter.

Cleaning your Bezzera BZ10

Keeping your espresso machine clean is one of the most important things as a barista. If you have the most expensive machine and coffee in the world, but your machine is dirty you will never get a good tasting espresso out of it.

Keeping the brewing group clean is the first thing, this can be done by backflushing the group head. You do this with a blindfilter and Puly caff cleaning detergent. This removes the coffee residues on the inside of the group and the 3 way solenoid valve.

If you make cappucino’s and Latte’s you need to clean the steam tube. This can be done with the help of a milk pitcher and Brooks milk cleaner. After soaking the steam tube in the solution the old milk residues can be removed pretty easily.

Descaling a BZ10 espresso machine

Descaling your espresso machine can never be prevented, but it can be postponed with a proper water filter in the water tank of your BZ10.

The consumer can descale a single boiler heat exchanger. Descaling does not need to be done regularly because it is not the main cleaning technique for prosumer model machines. Descaling can be carried out every three to four months, or more frequently if the machine exhibits flow problems. The necessity for more regular descaleing may arise if the machine is subjected to harsh water conditions or heavy operation.
