The Rocket Giotto types
The Rocket giotto espresso machines can be divided into two model types, the Evoluzione and Cronometro. These 2 model types can be divided into 2 versions, a R and a V version
Rocket Giotto Evoluzione V2
This espresso machine is a single group model, ideal for a Home barista. It is fitted with the famous E61 style brewing group. On the front plate you have a on off switch, pump pressure manometer and a boiler pressure manometer. Including indication lights.
The boiler you find on the Giotto Evoluzione is a horizontal boiler, with a heat exchanger (HX) diagonally installed. The heating element installed in this boiler is a 1200W model, this can be a 230V or a 115V version. The temperature inside the boiler is controlled with a pressure switch and not with a electronic temperature controller.
The Giotto Evoluzione is fitted with a water tank on the back, so you don’t have to have fixed plumbing in you kitchen. The water from this tank is pumped into the boiler, seen it is pressurized. This is not done with a vibration pump, but with a full commercial pump. So it has a motor and pump installed in this compact espresso machine. with this your espresso’s will be even better then with a regular vibration pump.
Rocket Giotto Cronometro
This version of the Rocket Giotto is called the Cronometro. This model comes in 2 types. The less expensive model is fitted with a vibration pump, model V. The more expensive one is the model R, which comes with a full pump and motor confirmation like you would find on commercial espresso machines.
The main difference between the Giotto Cronometro and the Giotto Evoluzione is that the Cronometro controls the temperature of the boiler with a temperature controller, instead of with just a pressure switch. For that reason you do also find a Solid State Relay(SSR) in this espresso machine, this SSR controls the heating element.
This version of the Giotto does also come with the iconic E61 style of brewing group, the advantage of this is that quite some parts are interchangeable with other e61 style of brewing groups. But we need to point out that with the brewing groups of Rocket some of the parts are not interchangeable anymore, seen they are unique to the brand
